My Acanthus End Tables add a unique accent to any space. They combine a historical and traditional wood inlay image with a modern color splash, set atop an elegantly simple table design. Some options will increase my quote, but I also will give discounts for a matching set, or if you purchase two “siblings” that have opposing inlay color sets. Acanthus carvings, in wood and stone, have decorated buildings and furniture since Greek and Roman times. In my opinion, the designs the Scandinavian carvers favored – flowing, interweaving vines in addition to the wide leaves – has stood out from all others. These designs combine organic forms with pleasing geometric curves and spirals. Many of the oldest churches in Norway showcase these designs as the preferred decoration.
My end tables are usually 24″x16″, and 24″ tall. I often use 3 or 4 contrasting wood colors. The epoxy resin linework can be almost any color, but I’ve found blue, green, and glittery black to be my favorites.
WHEN ORDERING A TABLE: There are many options to the design of these tables, and it can seem overwhelming. Don’t worry – I don’t need you to work out every single detail. If you generally prefer lighter or darker woods, tell me that and I’ll find a color combination that suits you. If you know all about wood species, and have specific preferences, let me know. If you see a piece in my photo gallery that is almost exactly what you want, “but if you could just change this one little thing,” tell me and I can make it happen.
